Sometimes a front yard just stops working. The plants get tired, the beds lose their shape, and the whole space starts looking like it's running on autopilot. That's exactly where this front yard was - overgrown shrubs, stressed-out plants that had seen better days, and a layout that wasn't doing the house any favors.
We started by clearing out the old growth and getting the beds prepped with fresh soil. That part isn't glamorous, but it's what separates a planting job that lasts from one that struggles in year two. Good prep is everything.
Now we're right in the middle of the fun part - getting the new plants positioned and into the ground. You can see the spacing starting to take shape, with ornamental grasses, lavender, and other low-maintenance varieties being worked into the layout. We're building this bed to look intentional and clean now, but also to fill in naturally over time without becoming a maintenance headache.
This is the kind of residential landscaping work we genuinely enjoy. It's not just about swapping plants - it's about looking at a yard and figuring out what it actually needs to look good long-term. New planting layouts, bed shaping, soil work, the whole picture.
We'll be posting the finished result soon. The bones are solid, the plants are going in right, and this front yard is going to look like a completely different place when it's done.
